DuckDB

Run custom calculations inside DuckDB queries while SQL handles filtering, joins, and aggregation. Functions compiled with Codon execute natively, without a Python callback for each row.

Choose a loadable extension for an existing DuckDB CLI or Python workflow. For a standalone executable, embed DuckDB and register the same function directly in the application.

Choose a Guide

  • Client applications: query an embedded database and process results in batches. No database server is needed.
  • SQL extensions: call your Codon functions from DuckDB queries, including its Python client.
  • Deployment: package an application or install an extension with its runtime libraries.

Install the all-SDK distribution before starting. For SQL types and API signatures, use the DuckDB reference.
